10 Years!!!

Well yesterday was Sam and my 10 year wedding anniversary. Holy cow time flys so quickly. It seems like just the other day we were setting up for our reception and them boom here we are. I can't imagine loving anyone else!! I am so lucky to have the best husband in the whole world!!! We had a great day of Dr's appointments and shopping for a new waffle iron ( which you can't fine in Jakarta) and ended the evening with dinner at this great little French restaurant. I have had a awesome 10 years!!!

A Major Jakarta Day

So let me just tell you nothing is easy here in Indonesia!!! I went for my 12 week nucal translucency ultrasound on last Thursday and it was quite the experience. First of all the appointment was about 45 min. from where we live. When we got there everything went smoothly with the check in. The min. we got into the "Dr.s" office I got the sense that he was new at this. Oh well. So we go over to the machine and start the ultrasound. The baby is of course in the wrong position so he starts to bounce the ultrasound on my stomach thinking that this will move the baby into the right position. Not so!!! The baby decides to turn around and ignore the annoyance. The bouncing continues until he starts a small contraction. What a dork!! Then he proceeds to tell me to take a 15 min. walk and that should stop the contraction. So we do that. When we got back he tried again and the baby was still vertical. So to make a long story short we spent 2 hours, 3 pee breaks, 2 bottles of water, and $80 to have him measure the baby in the position it was in when we first started. So then he tell me to go to the lab that is out on the main road and down 4 buildings. We follow his instructions and there is no lab in sight. Finally we turn around and go back to the hospital. The lab ended up being right next door to the hospital!! So I leave Sam and Ella in the car thinking this will only take a few min. man was I wrong. I went in the building and my first thought is " this is not someplace that I want my blood drawn" it was at least 85 and very stuffy. So I talk to the lab guy in my broken Bahasa Indonesia and then he disappears for about 10 min. at this point Sam and Ella get tired of waiting in the car and come in to see me. The lab tec. comes out and says that he can't do the test. Keep in mind that this is the specific lab that the Dr. sent us to. So we call the Dr's office and they explain to him that it has to be sent to Singapore and then he finally gets it and disappears for another 10 min. Finally he comes back and We pay the $130 and he starts to draw my blood. The min. the needle hits my skin I feel faint, by the time he pulled it out I was passing out. Luckily Sam was there to pick me up as I passed out and put me on the bed. Now this is Indonesia so they don't have smelling salts. I woke up a few min later to the lab guy holding a cotton ball with alcohol under my nose. Finally when I was coherent enough to talk I asked for a glass of water and being as hot and tired and hungry as I was drank it quickly. It came up just as quickly and with nothing to spew in but the cup he gave me I ran out of room quickly. Finally he brought out a few bags for me, of course too late, and Sam the wonderful husband that he is cleaned up my pants, feet, and the floor. As soon as I was cleaned up I insisted on getting out of there!!! So home we went and after 3 more yackings I was home only 5 hours after the appointment started. Nice story huh!!

Well thanks for reading and thanks so much for all your love and prayers!!! The baby is doing great and We are officially due on April 25th. I will keep you updated as the nausea allows!!

Finally!!!

Ok so I am terrible at keeping secrets, that is why I haven't blogged for a while!! Ok so time to spill the beans, I am finally pregnant!!! I am 10 weeks and everything looks great the heart beat is strong and I am feeling EVERY symptom. So there is is the reason I've been avoiding you. For those of you that want details this pregnancy was from a frozen embryo transfer. After our last IVF treatment here in Jakarta we have 2 embryos left over so we had them frozen. In July we decided to have the transfer and they both thawed great and were implanted. They both took for about 3 weeks and then 1 miscarried. At that time they discovered what my problem with miscarrying has been, my blood clots in my uterus when I get pregnant thus the loss of 6 baby's. I am now on a low dose heparin shot daily and it is looking great for this little one!! I was on bed rest for about 4 weeks to make sure I kept this baby and now I have permission to go for short walks!! We are hoping and praying that everything goes perfect with the rest of this pregnancy. Ella is so excited to be a big sister and she reminds us all the time to pray for the baby in mommy's tummy. She also thinks that there is a baby elephant in her tummy, she is so funny!!

New Cat

Yes, the Keys family has finally got a pet that no one is allergic to. He is a very cute Indonesian kitten that was rescued from the ditch infront of our house. Ella had a hard time the first few weeks and we heard alot of " NO Kitty!!" and " Shoo Kitty!!" but now she is in love with him. His name is Buddy and he is her new best buddy. She packs him almost everywhere she goes. His is, we're gussing, about 10 weeks old now and we have had him for about 5 of those.

Yesterday Ella was walking around the house saying " grrrrrrrr grrrrrrr" when I asked if she was a lion she said no she was Buddy. It was really funny.

Life in Jakarta is going well and I am so excited to be comming back to the states in April for a few months. It will be so nice to go to Target and to grocery shop at a store where I know I can find what I want. Living overseas is good but there is nothing like the good old U.S.A.

Ella's Birthday

Ella turned 3 this year and was spoiled as usual. She loves princesses so we got her a Pocahontas doll.
She also got buckaroo. That is my cousin Brian in the green and our friend Neil in the black. It was pretty much a adult birthday party since her best buddy Lucas is back in Holland right now.
This is the cake she chose it was blueberry cheese cake and it was yummy!!!
Blowing out the candles. with her new Belle baby doll.
And of course enjoying her cake. Yummy!!!

Teman Safari III

We think that this guy missed his true calling as a professional catchers mitt!!
Everywhere we go in Indonesia there is someone who wants thier babies picture taken with Ella. I think that she is starting to get really sick of it!! They always say, in thier broken English, Say hi to your brother or sister.
This is a baby leopard that you can pose with Ella actually thought it was cute and let us get this close before saying Shoo!!
This is in front of the baby lion pen.

When you finish driving through the park you come to this part. You can ride the elephants or camels or take in a dolphin or seal show. It is a really cool place and if you ever come to Jakarta it is a must see!! We had a blast!

Teman Safari Continued

This is a bus that you can ride through the park. Ella thought is was really cool!! We, again, have no idea what this guy is but we are pretty sure that George Lucas got his idea for Jar Jar Binks from him.
Whial driving through the meat eater paddocks we saw alot of beautiful large cats. This lion was only about 15 feet from us.
Hippos were everywhere in the park, apparently they thrive in Indonesial climate.
You can acctually see the shadow of our car in this picture. We were only about 4 feet from this guy!

Teman Safari

Ok so on the drive to Teman Safari you stop at these little road side stands and buy carrotts and bananas to feed the animals ( we diddn't buy enough). All of the Veggie eaters come right up to your windows and help themselves. You have to rool up your window of you look the other way or htey will stick thier entire heads in the car.

This lama was very greedy he tried to run us off of the road thinking maby we would feed him just a little more. Needless to say he diddn't look like he had missed very many meals!
We have no idea what this animal was but they really liked Sam (mostly for his carrotts). They had these huge heads and very long twisted horns that they would try to fit in the car. Ella ( who is terrified of pretty much every animal) only screemed through the first paddock of greedy zebras abd elephants. The rest of the time she just told all of the animals to Shoo!!

Ok so this picture isn't the greatest But they had these really cute mommy monkeys that carried thier little babies on their chests.

Here are some pictures of driving around Jakarta. It looks like it could be a town in America untill you look closer. The First picture is of a statue the expat community calls the Pizza Man. He is some kind of mythological hero here. the have statues of heros everywhere!! The second picture is of traffic notice all os the motorcycles. They are like a swarm of flies any time you stop they fill in all the gaps!! there is also a nice vew of the glare off of Sam's face.

Christmas

Well Christmas at the keys home this year was very quiet. We had a few friends from Sam's work over and cooked a simple meal. Ella had so much fun with her new toys, especially her new dress up jewelry!! Everything here in Jakarta is going well. Our recient IVF cycle was unsucessful but we have 2 frozen embryo's that we will use as soon as we can. We still miss the states but it is becoming bearable over here, especially since we found the movie theators. They offer this thing called Premiere Movies where you can go and sit in a nice leather recliner with a nice blanket and order great food while you enjoy your movie. It is even cheaper that a movie in the states!!
